Important  dates

• Deadlines

  • Pre-application. Short report.
    
    Presenting the short report (see Supplementary Instructions N 10) is optional. Nevertheless, some infromation about the system of the National Olympiads would be helpful for the IAO Committee and should be included into the pre-application file.
    
    
    Taking into account late announcement about the dates and place of the IAO-2017, the report and pre-application may be presented 1-2 weeks before the application.

    • Resolution.
      
      
      Normally the Chairman of the Olympic Advisory Committee will issue resolution about possibility for the country to send full (or not full) team to the IAO (i.e. solution about the representation quota: according to # 5.2.1. or to # 5.2.2. of the Statutes/Regulations the team may be form).
      Temporary rule for IAO-2017: any country may send full team.

    • Applications. Personal data for visas.
      
      
      • Visa necessary for team members (incl. visa-on-arrival for some special cases).
        The deadlines for receiving by LOC all application documents, personal data and scans of passports of proposed participants and leaders (maybe with some extra persons for reserve) for asking invitations valid for Consulates (i.e. invitations for Chinese visas) are:
        • Regular deadline:
          9 weeks before the Olympiad:
          August 24, 2017, 24h of local time (UT+8).
        (Requirement for regular accommodation fees.)
        • Late application deadline:
          6 weeks before the Olympiad:
          September 14, 2017, 24h of local time (UT+8).
        (Accommodation fees as per late application.)
        • Applications received since September 15 will be very late.
        (Accommodation fees as per very late application.)

      • For other teams (visa and official invitation for visa not necessary)

        List of no visa countries is very short in 2017: host country team, Bahamas, Barbados, Brunei, Ecuador, Fiji, Grenada, Japan, Mauritius, San Marino, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, Tonga.

• Tentative schedule of the Olympiad

  • Thursday, October 26 - Arriving of some teams
  • Friday, October 27 - Day of arrival to Weihai

    Please, take into account that very often the price for joint ticket Yourcity-Beijing-Weihai-Beijing-Yourcity may be cheaper than the part of this way Yourcity-Beijing-Yourcity.

  • Saturday, October 28 - Day of opening ceremony
  • Sunday, October 29 - Day of the theoretical round
  • Monday, October 30 - Day of the observational round
  • Tuesday, October 31 - Rest day, excursions
  • Wednesday, November 1 - Day of the practical round
  • Thursday, November 2 - Day of excursions
  • Friday, November 3 - Day of closing ceremony
  • Saturday, November 4 - Day of teams departure

    It will take about 1 hour to travel from the Olympiad venue to airport.

  • Sunday, November 5 - Departure of some teams
