In Siberian town Irkutsk the 1st Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad (APAO) has been held on December 4-11, 2005. APAO is a new Olympiad which was founded in the spring 2005 an international regional programme in line with the International Astronomy Olympiad.
Schedule of preparing the Olympiad was very intensive, the preliminary documents (1st, 2nd and 3rd announcements, the last information before the Olympiad) were regulary published just after their issuing.
48 students from 8 teams took part in the Olympiad:

Korea - 2 students | ||
Kazakhstan (town: Alma-Ata) - 2 students | ||
Siberia (Russia, central-asian part, towns: Krasnoyarsk, Novokuznetsk, Novosibirsk, Tomsk) - 10 students | ||
East Ural (Russia, west-asian part, towns: Chelyabinsk, Lesnoy, Yekaterinburg) - 4 students | ||
Irkutsk region (host) - 9 students |
That's a pity teams of Armenia, Iran, Singapore and observers from Taiwan team that planned to participate did not find such a possibility.
